Inclusion Agency

Inclusion Agency

We continue to support the wider sector to be inclusive.

With our partners, KU Children’s Services, and Include Me, Gowrie NSW continued to run the NSW/ACT Inclusion Agency.

We run the NSW West, NSW Central West, NSW North and NSW Mid North Coast Inclusion Hubs.

Our inclusion work is far reaching

In 2019 we supported

education and care services from our hubs.

We made

visits to these services.

And worked with them to complete

Strategic Inclusion Plans!

And takes us to many places.

In just one two month period in 2019, our Inclusion Professionals travelled

kilometres.

In 2019 Gowrie worked on inclusion with communities facing the impacts of drought.

In 2019 our inclusion work was often with services in communities such as Lightening Ridge, Bourke, Cobar, Broken Hill and the small towns around them, who were also struggling with the wide ranging impact of drought on their services, their communities, their families and their children.

In 2019 Gowrie supplied specialist equipment to services across the state.

Gowrie NSW supplies services with the specialist equipment they need to include all children. Children like Nikolaj from Smiley Tots in Chinderah on the far north coast.

Specialist equipment like a standing frame and a hydraulic transportation device enable Nikolaj to be fully included in his service.

Gowrie also continued to facilitate educator Yarnin Circles over the year.

Our Yarnin Circles are held throughout NSW and the ACT.

They help services and educators increase their knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history and community and increase their ability to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait perspectives in their curriculum.

Our inclusion work, like all our work, is made possible by our people.

We employ eleven Inclusion Professionals across the State.

Inclusion Professionals like Louise from our Central West Hub in Bathurst who has worked with Gowrie NSW supporting the inclusion of young children for over 10 years. Our Inclusion Professionals are the people that support services to promote equitable access for all children. That drive all those kilometres. That help work on all those SIPs.

We think they are fairly unique human beings.

Inclusion is about having the opportunity to meet outcomes.

Inclusion is about helping all children to access early learning, participate meaningfully in it and work towards meeting the outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework and Framework for School Aged Care:

  • strong sense of identity
  • connected with and contribute to their world
  • strong sense of wellbeing
  • confident and involved learners
